Pacnet names Syed Ali Abbas chief HR officer

Pacnet has appointed Syed Ali Abbas to a newly created position of chief human resources officer, in its latest management appointment.

Abbas replaces Anne Adam, SVP of HR, who will leave the company in January after serving Pacnet for 11 years.

A HR executive with extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region, Abbas will assume his new role on January 2, 2013 and will be based in Singapore.

He comes to Pacnet from AT&T where he worked in various human resources capacities for 11 years, and most recently served as executive director of HR for the Asia Pacific region based in Singapore.

Prior to AT&T, he worked in the HR team for KPMG’s consulting arm in India.

Ericsson promotes Mats Olsson to SVP for Apac

Ericsson has appointed Mats H Olsson as SVP for Asia-Pacific. In this new role, Olsson will become the chairman of Ericsson's three regional APAC operations in Northeast Asia, India and Southeast Asia & Oceania respectively.

He will continue to report to president and CEO Hans Vestberg and be a member of the company’s executive leadership team.

Olsson is currently head of region North East Asia, a position he held since 2010.

He will take up the new role on January 1, and will remain in his current role until a successor has been appointed, Ericsson said.
