Sri Lanka Telecom appoints Wijesundera as CEO

Sri Lanka Telecom said Dileepa Wijesundera has taken over as the company’s Group CEO starting from March 9.

Wijesundera replaces Lalith De Silva, who has resigned from his position within the company.

De Silva will assist the company in its transition and has been handing over the duties to the new Group CEO during the period March 9 to 13, the telco said.

Prior to joining Sri Lanka Telecom, Wijesundera previously served as head of Emirates Sky Cargo, Canada, and SVP Qatar Airways. He was also chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

Huawei appoints Zhao Ming head of Honor brand unit

Huawei has appointed Zhao Ming to head the company’s Honor brand smartphones unit. Zhao will replace Jeff Liu, who stepped down last month as president of the Huawei Honor brand at the company’s consumer business group.

Liu has worked for Huawei for 19 years, serving across multiple business units including as head of the Honor brand since 2013.

He will be leaving the company within the first half of this year, and will work closely with Zhao over the coming months to ensure a smooth leadership transition, Huawei said.

Zhao joined Huawei in 1998 and has served in various leadership roles including as head of the wireless product management department, sales director of global wireless solutions, president of the wireless CDMA & Wimax product line, representative of Huawei Device Italy, and most recently vice president for the Western Europe region.
