Leading Aussie ISP iiNet does not believe that any local ISP will end up carrying pay-TV content from Foxtel on the government's fledgling NBN.

And it believes that Telstra has the scale to do IPTV over the NBN on its own, without Foxtel. But it is difficult to see Telstra going it alone on IPTV given it owns 50% of Foxtel.

Telstra will, however, have to tread softly as competition watch dog the Australian Consumer Competition Commission will pounce on any exclusive content tie-up it does with Foxtel.

The IPTV content battle is in full swing even though the NBN Co. has yet to finalize a deal with Telstra to include the firm's fixed-line assets into the NBN.
