Viettel Telecom's mobile email service debuts

The Vietnam-based operator's "I-Mail" mobile e-mail service is up for full commercial launch in September through Memova Mobile, a solution that Critical Path designed for the mass market. Unlimited email service is available to Viettel subscribers at 15,000 Vietnamese dong (about $0.91) a month.

Pakistan's Zong offers voice SMS

China Mobile subsidiary CMPak's Zong brand has made its Keh Do message network for prepaid and post-paid voice SMS service. The Kirusa-developed Keh Do allows sending to and receiving from any mobile number in Pakistan, but Zong has also launched its international voice SMS service.

Nokia debuts "Comes With Music" in UK

Nokia has teamed up with Carphone Warehouse to launch its Comes With Music project, which enables consumers to purchase a year of unlimited music downloads via mobile handsets through the Nokia 5310. Pre-orders are already being accepted and Comes With Music will be initially available in the UK next month, with plans of extending the market to continental Europe and Asia next year.

Nano Equipment rolls out mobile social network

Nano Equipment has rolled out what may be the world's first 3G video call-based mobile social-networking and infotainment portal service called Asia Video Club. Now available in Malaysia and Singapore at a flat rate of 50 cents, AVC incorporates the elements of blogging, Face Book, YouTube and Phone Chat lines.
