Chinese web users were left astounded when the woman behind a "no sex before marriage" website appeared to abandon her moral crusade with an online advert seeking a husband.

Preserve Virginity operator Tu Shiyou sparked fierce debate on her chances of netting a man, after setting out strict criteria the husband to be must meet in her advert on Sina Weibo.

The advert was forwarded 10,000 times in an hour, and stipulates applicants must be Party members or civil servants, be a virgin themselves, and be willing not to have sex during the first three years of the marriage.
