Taliban militants operating in the Pakistani city of Wana have reportedly burned a number of mobile phones and computers allegedly used to spread obscene materials. US officials are considering measures, including a potential shut-down, to combat the use of Twitter posts by Somali militant group Shahab which are construed as promoting violence against Kenyan forces sent to battle the group.
UK names “super-connected” city candidates
The UK government has released the list of 14 cities eligible to bid to become “super-connected” with 100Mbps citywide networks. The cities are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Bradford, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle.
TalkTalk still most complained about UK ISP
The UK's TalkTalk still attracts the most customer complaints of any ISP in the UK, according to data released by regulator Ofcom. TalkTalk has now earned this dubious honor for four consecutive quarters, although the number of complaints have been falling.
