New StrataXGS WiFi switches from Broadcom are now loaded with the new BCM4342 single-chip and FASTPATH networking software.

These switches target enterprise end-users deploying 802.11n WiFi networks. The BCM4342 chip, meanwhile, is built from the company's Intensi-fi silicon using 65nanometer CMOS process technology.

Broadcom also introduced the BCM954342EAP reference design for enterprise access points.

Broadcom said its end-to-end solution consumes less power and allows access points to run simultaneously on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands.

The architecture is able to deliver data rates of 300Mbps over a larger coverage area, supporting applications like HD video surveillance and VoIP, Broadcom said.
