Beceem's BCS5200 is the first complete single Wimax chip with integrated voice and gateway router functionality, the company said.

The BCS5200 combines Beceem's high-performance WiMAX solution with an applications processor that supports a complete suite of VoIP codecs and IP network protocol stacks.

According to Beceem, the BCS5200 enables customers to design one platform and productize a wide variety of CPEs that are targeting different deployment needs.

The BCS5200 enables more than 30Mbps data throughput with simultaneous support for two voice streams, Beceem said.

The BCS5200 is also fully compatible with Beceem's BCS200 Wave 2 chipset, which was among the first to be certified for 2.5GHz by the WiMAX Forum.

The BCS5200 is sampling now with production availability in the fourth quarter of 2008, Beceem said.
