Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, and Zain Group, a leading multinational operator in the Middle East and Africa, recently jointly announced that multi-band, ultra-broadband antennas from Huawei had been chosen to deploy nearly one thousand GSM/UMTS/LTE (GUL) convergent network sites for Zain Kuwait.

Zain Group is committed to providing its subscribers with high-quality wireless communications services. Zain Group considers Zain Kuwait to be the company’s most important sub-network, and began to deploy a nationwide LTE1800 network at the beginning of 2013 – the biggest of its kind in the Middle East. Its planned deployment of a commercial GUL convergent network will provide its users with a better mobile broadband services experience.
The multi-band, ultra-broadband antennas Huawei provided Zain Kuwait simultaneously support multiple GUL network systems. Their slim size and dipole reuse design accommodate a lack of available site space while also cutting back on wind loads. This reduces operator requirements for site space and antenna load-bearing.

Huawei antennas support EasyRET, easy remote electrical tilt (RET) functionality for different spectrum bands, which provides more overall efficient network coverage, performance, optimization and maintenance. Embedded tilt components like remote control unit (RCU) help ensure an antenna quality and reliability that is up to three times better than the industry standard (especially antennas without RET support).

“We want to build the best LTE network, and to realize this goal we know efficient antenna deployment is a crucial point,” said Ammar H.Alastad, Zain Kuwait 3G Manager, “Huawei has provided us with the best antenna products and solutions. We have visited their automatic production line, and have seen the rigorous product testing process they use. Performance tests at the deployed sites have shown their antennas to provide an excellent performance.”

To date, Huawei has shipped more than 1.6 million antennas to more than 350 operators in 155 countries. Huawei is committed to providing advanced antenna systems to global operators that enable an enhanced network performance and better user experience.
