ZTE Corporation, a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has launched its Micro Cloud Gateway (MCG) M6000-1S series at the Broadband World Forum 2016. The product series can not only be used as the gateway of enterprise branch but also as the integrated access node of operator networks.

This innovative product not only provides all the functions of traditional enterprise gateway router and also the cutting-edge new technology of Software Defined Networking/Network Functions Virtualization (SDN/NFV). The ETE solution offered by the product enables enterprises and operators to improve service deployment efficiency and user experience.
With the maturity of SDN/NFV technology, enterprises and operators are under pressure to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of current networks by integrating information and communication (ICT) technologies. In response to this demand, ZTE has launched the M6000-1S, which is designed to support Intel's high-performance X86 architecture and integrate IT resources and CT equipment through virtualization.

Compared with traditional enterprise gateway equipment, this new product series does not only possesses traditional CT capabilities such as routing and switching, but also IT features such as high-performance computing, large-capacity storage and virtualization. MCG provides expansion slots for X86 board and expansion hard disk (HD) to expand the entire system storage capacity to 8T. In addition, the series also supports WiFi, 3G and 4G to adapt to various network environment, as well as redundant backup to guarantee network robustness.

MCG provides high-speed forwarding and strong virtualization platform. It works with ZTE’s powerful cloud management platform to help the customer to select a network on demand and create a secure and reliable enterprise-level VPN via overlay tunnel. Various 3rd parties Value-Added Service (VAS) APPs such as WAN acceleration, vDPI and vFW can run on MCG's powerful virtualization platform, which enables customers to run multiple virtual functions on one device. MCG allows greater flexibility and helps reduce costs and also gives customers more control, allowing them to quickly update network functions without buying new hardware.

Hu Longbin, general manager of IP Router of ZTE, commented: “The MCG solution brings the benefits of SDN automation and NFV virtualization to deliver the agility which the service providers need to bring new, value-added services to their customers. MCG solution is open and standard, which enables an open and fast growing ecosystem. Service providers can build and deploy new business services faster and cost efficiently."

The MCG product enriches the scenarios and solutions for the M6000-S product family and drives the development of government, enterprise and operator networks. Based on advanced hardware architecture and a mature software platform, the M6000-S product family meets network equipment requirements of different levels of Internet protocol/multiprotocol label switching (IP/MPLS). It has been widely used around the world in operator backbone networks, metropolitan area networks (MAN), mobile bearer networks as well as government and enterprise networks.
