In this Play-in elimination game for the eighth-ranked team in the East, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Atlanta Hawks. The match will take place on 16 April at 02:30 AM (+3 UTC). The Cavaliers lost the last game versus the Nets due to which they face a must-win situation versus the Hawks. On the other hand, the Hawks defeated the Hornets to have another shot at claiming the Playoffs spot.

Best bets on Cavaliers vs Hawks

Win/Lose/Handicap: Bookmakers from 22Bet are considering the Hawks as the favorites here and that is considering the current form of the Cavs and the Hawks. However, we have seen the first four games being won by the home-court teams. The Cavs have been struggling a lot these days but they can surprise the Hawks in this game. The Handicap of -2.5 is in favour of the Hawks so even if you pick the Cavaliers with a plus handicap that doesn’t look like the right move because the games usually are not this close. So, yes, picking a winner with a handicap of -4.5 can be the way to go, for the Cavaliers, that has the odds of 2.75, while for the Hawks, they are 2.27. I am a little confused here but I “lean” on the Hawks with a handicap of -4.5( Handicap 2 -4.5)

Player Props: Bookmakers at Bet365 predict that the odds of Lauri Markkanen going past 13.5(at least 14 points) is 1.83 here. I believe Lauri is in for a big night here and will score at least 15 points even though he bagged 13 in the last game. I’d go over the 13.5 Points for Markkanen. (Player Props: Player Points: Lauri Markkanen Over 13.5)

Hawks’ Total: Bookmakers at 1xBet suggest that the odds of Hawks going Over 112.5 are 1.90. Now, it is a tricky situation considering that the Hawks produce lower points away from home but the Cavs haven’t been getting it done on the defensive end these days. The tricky part comes with Jarrett Allen’s status for the game and he can end up playing, and when he is active the Cavs are much better on defense. Still, I’d go Over 112.5 for the Hawks. (Total 2 Over 112.5)

Cleveland Cavaliers form

The status of Jarrett Allen may end up deciding the status of the Cavaliers but I believe the Cavaliers will come up with a strong effort here. Darius Garland scrapped 34 points in the last game and that surely made things interesting before the Nets closed out the team. Evan Mobley has been a major factor as a scorer and defender but his defensive impact and rebounding haven’t been enough in the absence of Allen. Lauri Markkanen and Kevin Love will need to make their three-point shots so that other players can produce driving lanes. To be honest, Caris LeVert hasn’t gotten it done as an isolation driving guard, he will need to come up with something special here.

Atlanta Hawks form

The Hawks gave a thorough beatdown to the Hornets in the last game and the best part for the Hawks fans must have been that the team won even when Trae shot around 33% which is not usually the case. Driving Forward DeAndre Hunter came up with one of his best games of the season and banged home 16 points in the third quarter. For the second straight season, the Hawks have picked up their play around the Playoffs and although a Conference Finals run doesn’t look likely, they will surely be coming in this game as the favorites. Gallinari, Huerter, and Bogdanovic have all improved in the second half of the season while Clint Capela as the Center has also played a huge role as the rebounder, defender, and paint scorer.

Cavaliers vs Hawks: possible lineups

  • Cavaliers most likely starting five: PG: Darius Garland | G: Caris LeVert | PF: Lauri Markkanen | C: Evan Mobley | C: Jarrett Allen;
  • Hawks most likely starting five: PG: Trae Young | SG: Kevin Huerter| SF: DeAndre Hunter | PF: Danilo Gallinari | C: Clint Capela.
