This weekend in New York, two of the most decorated fighters in boxing history (male or female) go head to head for the undisputed lightweight titles. Katie Taylor holds the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO featherweight titles and is undefeated. Her foe, Amanda Serrano has won titles in six different weight classes and is hoping to beat Taylor to make it titles in seven weight classes.

Known for her aggressive and fast-paced pugilism, Katie Taylor who turned professional in 2016 is highly regarded in Ireland and seen as the individual that raised the profile of female boxing worldwide. Her stellar amateur career included an Olympic gold medal at the London games in 2012 and 16 gold medals at various world and European championships. Taylor became WBA lightweight champion in October 2017 when she defeated Anahi Sanchez for the vacant title at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff. The next year she unified WBA and IBF belts by defeating Victoria Bustos at Barclays center, New York with a unanimous decision. Taylor last fought in December 2021 when she defeated Firuza Sharapova in another unanimous decision to successfully defend her titles.
