After a successful career in Jiu-Jitsu, including getting a black belt, he transitioned to mixed martial arts debuting in Bellator in 2014 via WSOF, where he was unbeaten. He immediately accumulated six submissions in seven fights in the promotion before losing, for the first time, at the semi-finals of the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix to Rory MacDonald in June 2019.

Gracie has lost three times in Bellator, and his last loss in Bellator 266 was in a match-up that mainly was conducted standing-up. Gracie has only one knockout win in his Bellator career.
