Ranked No.1 in UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings, Valentina Shevchenko became the Flyweight champion in September 2018 after defeating Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 in what was a rematch. Valentina Shevchenko previously contested in the Bantamweight division, where she made her debut before slipping down Flyweight. She has defeated some of the biggest names in MMA, including Holly Holm, Julianna Peña, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and Liz Carmouche. Her last fight was last September, when she claimed a TKO victory over Lauren Murphy.

Valentina Shevchenko
I was happy to figure out that all these other things will just distract from my goal. I discovered this pretty early, and from that moment, I was thinking, ‘What do I want? What do I really want?’ And I knew that what I wanted was to be a fighter and to do in my career as much as I could. Just do what I like to do, and I just got rid of all distractions — for now.

Taila Jaime dos Santos is ranked No.4 in the UFC Women’s Flyweight rankings. The Brazilian joined the Promotion in 2019 after scaling the Dana White Contender series. She lost her UFC debut to Mara Romero Borella in a split decision for her only MMA loss. In the last couple of years, she has won four straight fights defeating Joanne Wood last November after knocking her down twice and submitting her via rear-naked choke. The first-round win earned her the Performance of the Night award. She is aware of the uphill task facing her in this bout.

Taila Santos
She’s about as close as you can get to the perfect fighter, but nobody is perfect. There’s always room for improvement for everybody. Doing the tape study, we were able to locate a few things we can work on, and that was basically what the strategy has been put around those flaws that we found, and that’s what I’m going to impose.
