The Capitals have had a disastrous start to IPL 2023, losing all three of their matches and finding themselves second from the bottom of the points table. To improve their position, the team will need to win some matches soon.

The team's batting has been a major letdown, which has been the primary cause of their poor performances. While skipper David Warner has scored two half-centuries in three innings, he has received little support from the other batsmen. However, his strike rate has been a major concern. Due to wickets falling from another end he had to play the anchoring innings in all of the games.

Prithvi Shaw, who had been in good form in domestic cricket before the start of the tournament, has struggled to get going, as has Sarfaraz Khan. The Capitals have some big hitters in their squad, including Rilee Rossouw and Manish Pandey, and they will be hoping to find their form soon. On the positive side, the Capitals have good depth in their batting, with Axar Patel, Abhishek Porel, and Rovman Powell all capable of batting.

The story has been similar with the bowling department, despite having quality bowlers such as Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, and Khaleel Ahmed. They have struggled to keep the opposition's batting in check.

The Mumbai Indians, who have won the IPL five times, finished last in the previous season and have continued their poor form this year, losing both of their opening matches and currently sit just above the Capitals in the standings.

The opening duo of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma have failed to produce big innings, which is a major concern for the team management. However, in their last game, they managed to score some runs and will be eager to build on that momentum. Similarly, the hard-hitting batsmen Cameron Green and Surya Kumar Yadav have not performed up to expectations.

The only positive for the Mumbai Indians has been the performance of Tilak Varma, who is currently their top scorer. He has performed consistently in middle overs. Jasprit Bumrah has been their key bowler, but his absence has left a significant void.

The team management invested heavily in Jofra Archer, but he has yet to prove his worth. Furthermore, Jhye Richardson's injury has further weakened their pace attack, and it remains to be seen how his replacement, Riley Meredith, performs. The Mumbai Indians' bowlers have only taken five wickets in their first two games, highlighting their poor form.

Both teams are currently experiencing a poor run of form, which makes this match hard to predict. Expect a high-scoring match when these two teams face each other, as the batters will benefit from the surface. Spinners may get some assistance during the middle overs, and a total of 175 or more could be considered good on this pitch. After winning the toss, the captain may choose to field first. DC playing on their home ground seem to have a slight advantage over MI, given their stronger batting line-up and depth. Expect them to win the game and get their season underway.
