Boxing Day Test can potentially field over 80000 fans

There are speculations that the Boxing Day Test will be held with over 80,000 fans in attendance at the MCG. MCG which is in Melbourne falls under the jurisdiction of the Victorian Government and the Government has shown some fluidity in curbing the lockdown restrictions with the vaccination rate skyrocketing daily. The Premier(Head of the executive government or an elected leader of the state) of the Victorian state, Daniel Andrews has showcased his desire to see big crowds during the Boxing Day Test between Australia and England.

What is the Boxing Day Test?

Boxing Day Test is an annual traditional fixture that takes place on Boxing Day, which is the day after Christmas on 25 December. The fixture has been taking place at the international level since 1950. Also, since 1990, not a single year has gone without featuring a Boxing Day Test, including last year, when India played Australia. This year, Australia is slated to play it against the arch-rivals England during the Ashes.

Daniel Andrews, Premier, Victoria
I want to see 80,000 plus people at the Boxing Day Test on day one, that's what I want to see. We are determined to deliver that. It won't be easy. I think selling the tickets will be pretty easy.
