President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev said at a press conference in Dubai that the world boxing championship among men of 2023 will be held in Tashkent from May 1 to 14.

Umar Kremlev
I am sure that the IBA men's world boxing championship will be held in Tashkent at the highest level, it will be one of the best ones in history. For the first time ever, we will have a record prize fund of 5.2 million dollars. The prize for the first place is $200,000, for the second place - $100,000, and for each bronze medalist - $50,000.

Athletes from all five continents will take part in the championship.  The first tournament was held from August 17-30, 1974, in Havana, Cuba. Women boxing world championships have been held since 2001.

On February 28, the IOC recommended to the international sport federations not to allow Russian athletes to take part in international competitions. The majority of the sport federations agreed with the recommendation.
