FIA Reduces Penalties for Inappropriate Language Usage

According to a statement from the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), the organization has amended its rules to soften the penalties for the use of inappropriate language.

The maximum fine for such violations has been reduced from 10,000 to 5,000 euros. Stewards have the discretion to completely waive the penalty if it’s the driver’s first offense.

Moreover, fines will now only be issued for the use of obscenities during FIA events, such as press conferences. Spontaneous comments made by drivers during races will be considered as made in an environment, not governed by the FIA.
