Formula 1 Plans to Adjust Qualifying Format Due to Cadillac’s Entry

Formula 1 intends to change the qualifying format for the 2026 season with the addition of its 11th team, the American Cadillac, reports GPBlog.

Under the new system, six drivers will be eliminated in the first qualifying stage instead of five, as has been the case in recent years. The same change will apply to the second stage.

In the third stage, the top ten drivers will compete for pole position as before. This format was previously used in 2016, when the championship also featured 11 teams.
