Mercedes Boss Wolff Apologizes to Tsunoda for Practice Incident

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, speaking to Motorsport.com, commented on the incident during the third free practice session of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He offered an apology to Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda.

Toto Wolff
First of all, I'm sorry for Yuki, because I think we damaged all of the good bits of his car. It was our mistake. We need to identify what happened. Not quite sure. But the session was grim at the beginning, but then I think George had a proper lap and that was good enough for P1. And with Kimi after the shunt in the pitlane, it was all messy, obviously.

The incident took place in the pit lane between Mercedes representative Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Tsunoda. The Japanese driver ended his session early and could not attempt quick laps because the Italian drove into Yuki's side while exiting the pits.

The 58-lap Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race will take place on December 7 at 16:00 GMT+3.

As of December 6, Norris is leading the 2025 Formula 1 overall standings with 408 points. Verstappen is second with 396 points. Norris's teammate, Oscar Piastri, completes the top three with 392 points.
