Racingnews365: Otmar Szafnauer Explores Purchase of Alpine F1 Team

According to Racingnews365, former team principal of the Formula 1 Alpine team, Romanian-American Otmar Szafnauer, is considering a potential acquisition of the French team Alpine.

The 60-year-old Szafnauer has confirmed his collaboration with a group of North American investors that could financially support Alpine in the future. Currently, he is awaiting the departure of Renault’s CEO Luca de Meo, who is set to officially leave his position on July 1, and aims to negotiate the sale with his successor.

Since May 7, Flavio Briatore has been acting as the head of Alpine, succeeding Oliver Oakes.

In the 2025 Formula 1 season, Alpine is represented by French driver Pierre Gasly and Argentinian Franco Colapinto. After twelve races, the team sits at the bottom of the Constructors' Championship standings with 11 points.
