A total of 172 goals were scored at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, making it the most productive tournament in history. At the 1998 and 2014 World Cups, 171 goals were scored.

The most productive match of World Cup 2022 in Qatar was the group stage meeting between England and Iran (6-2). This match was also remembered for the record time added to it - more than 27 minutes.

The next World Cup will be held in the summer of 2026, hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada.
