The first match for Barcelona at the newly renovated Camp Nou will take place later than originally planned. The club announced the rescheduling on its official website.
Barcelona were expected to host their first home game after extensive stadium renovations on August 10, coinciding with the Joan Gamper Trophy match. The delay is attributed to bureaucratic processes; municipal authorities have not yet completed the necessary approvals to reopen the venue and issue the relevant licenses.
Camp Nou was built in 1957, and it underwent renovations in 1995 and 2008. The latest work commenced in the summer of 2022, with the renovation costs estimated at €1.5 billion.
There were earlier reports suggesting that Barcelona's new sponsor could be the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the African country ready to invest €11 million annually in the Catalan club over four years.
