Benfica's press office has announced the transfer of 22-year-old Argentine and Lisbon midfielder Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea for €121 million.
Fernandez's transfer to Chelsea was the biggest in English football history. Jack Grealish's €117 million move from Aston Villa to Manchester City was the previous record. River Plate, who trained the player in their academy, will receive 25% of the sum.
Fernandez played for Benfica from the summer of 2022. The player has made 29 appearances, scoring four goals and providing seven assists. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Fernandez was named the best young player of the tournament.
