Chelsea's 22-year-old Ukrainian midfielder Mykhaylo Mudryk has faced a wave of backlash after using a racist slur in a Tik-Tok video post the footballer published on the social network.

The Ukrainian's circle insists that the footballer only cited a quote from a song without any offensive intent.

Mykhaylo deeply regrets any offense caused by the video posted on his account last July. Although his only intention was to quote the lyrics, Mykhaylo regrets his decision and sincerely admits that it was inappropriate. The video has since been removed.

Mudryk is a pupil of Shakhtar's academy. The player joined Chelsea on January 15, 2023 for €100 million. Mudryk played 44 matches for Shakhtar, scoring 12 goals and providing 17 assists.

In his debut match for Chelsea in the EPL against Liverpool (0-0), Mudryk set a league record for speed for the season.
