Chief referee of 2022 World Cup finals reveals what Mbappé said after France's defeat

Szymon Marciniak, head referee of the final match of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar between Argentina and France (3-3, 4-2 - penalty), revealed to the media what he said to the French players and Kylian Mbappé after their defeat.

He said a few words to Hugo Lloris and said hello to Olivier Giroud, who admitted that the final was very difficult.

Szymon Marciniak, quoted by Sport.pl
Then I spoke to Mbappe, who was probably the most emotional. After what happened, he wasn't happy with the title of top scorer of the tournament. I congratulated him on his performance, told him I was sorry he lost. We hugged each other and I told him not to worry because he will win more than one cup.

Mbappé played in seven matches at the World Cup, scoring eight goals and providing two assists. The Frenchman scored a hat-trick in the final game. He has already won the World Cup in 2018 in Russia, when France defeated Croatia (4-2) in the final.
