Katia Aveiro, the sister of Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, said her brother could theoretically participate in the next World Cup.

"41 years old is the prime of life," Aveiro wrote on her social media.

The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by three countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico. Initially, the final stage of the championship was supposed to include 32 national teams, as usual, but in January 2017, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced an increase in the number of participants to 48.

At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Portugal finished first in Group H and defeated Switzerland 6-1 in the last 16 before losing to Morocco by a narrow margin in the quarterfinals.
