FIFA president Infantino calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

FIFA President Gianni Infantino addressed the G20 leaders at their summit in Bali and asked them to consider a Ukrainian ceasefire during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Qatar Mundial kicks off on Sunday, November 20 with a match between Qatar and Ecuador, which begins at 4 p.m. GMT. The tournament will continue until Dec. 21 and will end with the final at the arena in the new city of Lusail.

Gianni Infantino, quoted by RIA Novosti
The championship will start very soon. In this regard, I have a proposal to you: to agree on a temporary ceasefire - let it be short, let it be one month, for the duration of the championship. Or about the arrangement of humanitarian corridors or something similar, which could be the first step towards a dialogue between the two sides.

Earlier, FIFA and UEFA suspended the Russian national team and clubs from participation in international tournaments. Valery Karpin's team was unable to participate in the qualifying matches and compete for the final part of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
