Barcelona head coach Hans-Dieter Flick commented on his team’s win over Newcastle in the first round of the group stage of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.
Hans-Dieter Flick, quoted by BBC
It was a fantastic atmosphere. We saw how Newcastle were playing with high intensity. It's what we expected. We had the confidence and believed in our strengths. What about Rashford’s brace? We always see [this from Rashford] in training and we saw it today. I'm happy for him. In the offence we have a lot of good players and he's one. These two goals will help a lot to get Marcus to the next step. It's so important he has the confidence and feels OK. These goals are unbelievable for him for the next steps.
This summer Barcelona took Marcus Rashford on a one-season loan from Manchester United, and the forward marked the match with a two-goal performance.
Barcelona’s next match is at home against Paris Saint-Germain on October 1, with kickoff at 22:00 GMT+3.
