Former Chelsea striker Atsu found dead after earthquake in Turkey

Hatayspor and Ghana striker Christian Atsu has been found dead under the rubble after an earthquake in Turkey. The player's agent Murat Uzun Mehmet announced the news.

There was no information about the player's location and his condition since the start of the earthquakes in Turkey on February 5 and 6. The intensity of the tremors reached 7.8 points out of a possible 10.

Atsu died at the age of 31. He joined Hatayspor in September 2022. Previously, the striker played for English Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton. The footballer played 60 matches and scored 10 goals for the national team of Ghana. He scored his last goal just several hours before the earthquake.

Earlier, Hatayspor announced that it would not be able to continue playing in the current season of the Turkish championship.
