Former head coach of Portugal Santos to lead the Polish national team

Former head coach of Portugal Fernando Santos will become the new coach of the Polish national team.

This was reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano. The sides are going to sign an agreement until the summer of 2026.

The leaders of the Polish Football Union and the coach are discussing the final details of their cooperation.

The retirement of Santos from the Portuguese national team became known on Thursday, December 15. The 68-year-old specialist has led the national team since 2014. With him, the team won the European Championship in 2016 and the League of Nations in 2019.

Portugal previously dropped out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after losing to Morocco in the quarterfinals (0-1).

The Polish team reached the round of 16 of the World Cup, where it lost to France 1-3.
