France loses two of its four World Cup finals

The French national team met in the final match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar against Argentina. The match was held in Lusail and ended in a 3-3 draw. Argentina won 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
 
France has played four times in the World Cup finals and lost for the second time. Earlier, it lost to Italy in the 2006 World Cup final in a penalty shoot-out.
 
Two victorious finals took place in 1998 and 2018. The French won the first championship after defeating Brazil (3-0), and the second in the decisive game against Croatia (4-2).
 
France is a two-time world champion. Only Argentina (three), Germany and Italy (four each) and Brazil (five) have more trophies.
