Gonçalo Ramos' hat-trick helps Portugal defeat Switzerland in the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup

The Portuguese national team defeated Switzerland in the round of 16 match of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar, which took place on December 6 and ended with a score of 6-1.

The score in the match was opened in the 17th minute. Portugal forward Gonçalo Ramos scored. In the 33rd minute the defender of the Portuguese national team Pepe, who had become the oldest scorer in the World Cup playoffs, netted the goal. In the 51st minute Ramos sealed the double.

In the 55th minute Portuguese defender Raphaël Guerreiro scored. Switzerland responded with a 59th-minute goal from defender Manuel Akaji. 67 minutes into the match, Ramos scored a hat-trick, the first of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. 90+2 minutes into the match, forward Rafael Leão scored.

Due to this victory, the Portuguese advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Qatar. Portugal's opponent for the exit to the semifinals is Morocco, which had earlier beaten Spain in the penalty shootout on December 6 with a score of 3-0. The quarterfinal match will take place on December 10 and will start at 18:00 GMT+3.
