Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has responded to criticism from former Real Madrid and Russian national team coach Fabio Capello, who recently claimed that the Spaniard has had a negative impact on football.
Capello stated that many coaches have been copying Guardiola's style for the past ten years, making the game less interesting. Guardiola acknowledged that he always pays attention to what people say about him, noting that this isn’t the first time Capello has expressed such opinions.
Pep Guardiola, quoted by City Xtra
I listen to everything that people say about me, so be careful. It's not the first time Mr Fabio Capello has said that. I'm not good enough to ruin Italian football. A big hug to Fabio. A big hug.
Guardiola has been managing Manchester City since 2016 and previously coached Bayern Munich and Barcelona. This season, the Citizens currently sit fifth in the Premier League standings, having accumulated 47 points from 28 matches.
