Brazilian defender Douglas Santos of Zenit discussed missing his homeland and his feelings about St. Petersburg in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net.
– Some Brazilian players start to feel homesick. How do you feel about St. Petersburg, and do you think about Brazil?
– Of course, I miss my family and friends who aren’t here with me in St. Petersburg, but I want to emphasize that this city and Russia are my home. I feel very comfortable here. I’ve been playing for Zenit for several years now, and after so long, I see everything around me in St. Petersburg as absolutely native. I’m happy to call this city home, but I was born and raised in Brazil, and I do miss my home and loved ones. It’s a natural feeling.
Santos has been with Zenit since 2019, serving as the team captain and playing over 200 matches. He has won the Russian championship five times and is a two-time holder of the national cup. He also has five Super Cup titles to his name.
