La Liga president Javier Tebas has commented on Real Madrid's complaint to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) regarding refereeing in their match against Espanyol, which ended in a 0-1 loss.
In their statement, the Madrid club demanded a complete reform of the refereeing system.
Tebas accused Real Madrid of attempting to undermine the tournament's reputation and noted that the club is deliberately portraying itself as a victim. He stated that the club's comments distort the situation regarding the Negreira case, which confirmed some influence on referee promotions and demotions but the fact of paying the referees has not been established.
Real Madrid are playing the victims and I think the cherry on top was the letter they published the other day. Real Madrid wants to harm the competition (La Liga), not just the refereeing group. The issue has been blown out of proportion, they have lost their mind.
Currently, Real Madrid are leading the table with 49 points from 22 matches. Previously, a majority of La Liga clubs called for sanctions against Real Madrid for their criticism of referee decisions.
