Liverpool have announced that they have extended the contract of their captain, Dutch center-back Virgil van Dijk. The defender has been with the Reds since January 2018.
During his time at Liverpool, van Dijk has won the English Premier League title, all domestic cups, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup. Before moving to Liverpool, he played for Southampton and Scottish club Celtic.
This season, the 33-year-old player has played in 44 matches across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist. According to Transfermarkt, van Dijk's market value is currently estimated at 28 million euros.
