According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, negotiations between the management of the Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo regarding a contract extension have been put on hold.
The reason for this decision comes from the dissatisfaction of Al-Nassr's bosses with the 40-year-old forward's reaction on the team's loss in their home match against Al-Ittihad in round 30 of the Pro League (2-3). Ronaldo, who played the entire game without any significant contributions, actively gestured and expressed his frustration with the match results after the final whistle. After 30 rounds of play, the Riyadh team stands fourth in the Pro League table, having accumulated 60 points and trailing the leaders, Al-Ittihad, by 11 points with three rounds left this season.
It’s worth noting that Ronaldo's current contract with Al-Nassr runs until the end of June 2025. In the 2024/2025 season, he played 28 matches in the Saudi league, scoring 23 goals and providing three assists, as well as participating in eight games in the elite AFC Champions League, where he scored eight goals. The Transfermarkt website estimates the Portuguese star at 12 million euros.
On May 10, it was reported that “CR7” might leave Al-Nassr following the club's exit from the Asian Champions League. Additionally, according to Sport Bible on April 19, the forward may sign a short-term deal with either Manchester City or Chelsea to take part in the 2025 Club World Cup.
