Spanish newspaper Marca reported that fans of La Liga club Sevilla, frustrated by the team's recent results, attacked the club bus upon entering the training ground.
According to reports, fans wanted to speak with the players at San Pablo Airport, but the footballers managed to avoid this uncomfortable conversation. Several hundred angry fans greeted the team's bus at the entrance to the training facility, throwing eggs at it. The ultras chanted insults, demanding the immediate resignation of Sevilla's management, and attempted to force their way onto the premises, breaking through a fence.
Members of Spain's National Police Corps and Civil Guard, who had escorted the Sevilla players to the training base, had to fire in the air with non-lethal weapons for safety reasons. The main team remains at the base due to security concerns.
On April 13, Sevilla announced the resignation of head coach Javier García Pimienta due to unsatisfactory results. Joaquín Caparrós was appointed in his place, marking his fourth tenure as coach of the club. On May 10, in a guest matchup of the 35th round of La Liga for the 2024/2025 season, Sevilla lost 2-3 to Celta Vigo.
Sevilla currently sit in 16th place in the Spanish league table with 38 points, just six points above the relegation zone with three rounds remaining in the tournament.
