Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi announced on his social media the creation of his own youth tournament called the "Messi Cup."
The tournament will take place in Miami from December 9 to 14, with confirmed participation from U16 teams of River Plate, Newell’s Old Boys, Inter Miami, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Inter Milan.
Messi has been playing for Inter Miami since 2023, after transferring from PSG. In the 2025 season, he played 42 matches in all competitions for the US club, scoring 34 goals and providing 18 assists.
On the night of October 15, Argentina defeated Puerto Rico 6-0, where Messi recorded two assists, becoming the all-time leader in assists in international football history.
