Back in mid-March, through a mutual friend, I casually asked him, ‘Hey, I’ve got a Club World Cup coming up - any interest in playing it?’ He felt honored and took time to consider it, but in the end he told me, ‘I have to focus on preparing for next season.’
Ronaldo, who turned 40, currently plays for Saudi club Al-Nassr. Last season, he participated in 41 matches, scoring 35 goals and providing four assists.
River Plate currently top Group E with three points. They will play Mexican club Monterrey in the second round of the Club World Cup on June 22.
Earlier, Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi showed deep respect for Cristiano Ronaldo. In other news, Ronaldo recently gifted a signed jersey to U.S. President Donald Trump.
