Cristiano Ronaldo, forward for Al Nassr and the Portugal national team, is likely to miss a significant number of games in the upcoming season.
Saudi journalist Falah Al Qahtani reported on social media that the 40-year-old player discussed the situation with Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, concluding that managing the player's energy in less critical matches is necessary.
Given Ronaldo's age, the coaching staff and the player himself believe it’s essential to carefully monitor his physical condition and avoid overexerting him. During the 2024-25 season, Cristiano already faced missed games due to fatigue.
To prevent similar situations in the future, the forward has agreed to sit out at least a quarter of all matches. Ronaldo aims to avoid injuries and be in the best shape possible for the upcoming World Cup.
The Saudi Pro League season is set to kick off on August 21.
