Colombian singer Shakira won't perform at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, according to Marca.

As reported by a source of the edition, the singer refused to perform a few days before the start of the tournament amid criticism of the political regime in Qatar and human rights violations in the country.

Earlier it was reported that Dua Lipa and Rod Stewart also refused to perform.

Shakira is the author of the song "Waka Waka," the official anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
