
Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has been awarded an honorary degree by the University of Manchester for his significant contribution to the city and his active work outside of football, including the work of the Guardiola Sala Foundation.
While presenting the award to the Spanish coach, his significant impact on the local community was emphasized.
Josep Guardiola said that Manchester had become home to him during his nine years at the club and thanked the university and the Citizens for their support. Receiving recognition from such a prestigious institution is a great honor, he added.
The University of Manchester, founded in 1824, is one of the UK's top universities.
Josep Guardiola has been in charge of Manchester City since 2016. Under his leadership, the club became the EPL champions six times, two-time winners of the FA Cup and the FA Super Cup, four-time winners of the English League Cup, as well as triumphants of the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
The current agreement of the 54-year-old Spanish coach with the Citizens is until the end of the season-2026/27.
Earlier, Josep Guardiola announced an unusual condition under which he can leave the English club.
