The match of the second round of the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar between the Netherlands and Ecuador (1-1) took place on November 25.

This meeting was the ninth one for Louis van Gaal, the coach of the Netherlands national team at the world championships. The 71-year-old specialist has never lost in these matches, except for matches with extra-time (six wins and three draws).

Thus, van Gaal has repeated the World Cup record set by Vittorio Pozzo, who scored eight victories and one draw when leading the Italian national team from 1934 to 1938.
