Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere is optimistic that his charges can write off their bad history against record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia, when the two sides face off this weekend.
Tusker has in the last two seasons finished second behind Gor Mahia in the league standings, and in both occasions, have not beaten them. However, speaking to Telecomasia.net before their weekend meet, Okere is confident his team can right the wrongs.
That is in the past and we can always write a new history. We know that we have not won against them over the last two seasons but for us that is motivation enough to go out there and fight for all three points. They are our direct competitors in the fight for the title and if we win against them, then it really pushes our morale high.
Tusker are currently top of the league standings with 30 points, three ahead of second placed KCB and six ahead of fourth-placed Gor who have two matches in hand.
A win against the record champions might give them a six point buffer heading at the halfway mark of the season.
This is motivation for us to know that we will remain top with a win. The players know this and they have the urge and zeal to make sure we remain there. We have to fight from the first minute to get something from this game.
Tusker have gone for two seasons without winning a trophy, and Okere wants them to quench the thirst this season.
