Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about the current state of Italian football.
Today our league became a transition league, unlike the 2000s when we had the best ranking of all and were competitive. Nowadays, the most important players arrive when they are 40.
"I’ll give you an example: Real Madrid signed Mastantuono for €60m. In Italy, if a player is born in 2004, 2005 or 2006, they go for €30m-€35m at a maximum. The market for incoming signings is very limiting. Additionally, the big clubs like Inter, Milan, Juventus, Roma, Napoli and Atalanta have resorted to focusing on capital gains. Also, in the 2000s, their TV rights abroad were sold at 10 times the amount that we sold them for," Guiseppe Marotta said.
After six Serie A rounds in the 2025-26 season, Napoli lead with 15 points. Roma are second with the same number of points, and Milan rank third with 13 points.
Inter are fourth with 12 points. In the seventh round, Cristian Chivu’s side will face Roma. The match is scheduled for October 18 at 21:45 GMT+3.
