Former Washington Capitals forward Brendan Leipsic, who now plays for HC Sibir Novosibirskб shared his thoughts with Telecomasia.net about Alexander Ovechkin's pursuit of Wayne Gretzky's record and his own adaptation in Russia.
– You played with Ovechkin in Washington. Are you following his chase for Gretzky's record?
– Yes, of course. I think it’s not just me, but the whole world is watching. I hope he breaks the record this year. It's just a matter of time.
– How is Ovi in the locker room?
– He’s an incredible guy, one of my best teammates!
– Are you keeping in touch with him?
– I'd say not that often, he is quite a busy person, but I occasionally text him to see how he’s doing.
So far this season, Ovechkin has scored 22 goals in 32 games. He has a total of 875 goals in regular-season play, needing just 19 more to tie Gretzky's record.
