
Goalkeeper Marc-André Fleury, who recently turned 40, shared his reasons for agreeing to participate in the 2025 World Championship as part of the Canadian team.
It’s worth noting that this upcoming tournament will mark Fleury’s first appearance at a World Championship.

Yeah, after we lost that night, I was like, I’m done, you know. But a couple of days goes by, and I was like, yeah, I think that would be pretty cool… So just a little longer, right? I don’t know, I went home, my kids were crazy, I was like 'Geez, I gotta keep playing again.'
It’s important to remember that Fleury is an Olympic champion from the 2010 Vancouver Games with the Canadian national team and has won the Stanley Cup three times while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In NHL regular-season play, Fleury ranks second all-time among goalies for most wins (575), trailing only the legendary Martin Brodeur (691).
