The 2025 Stanley Cup Final series between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers saw the lowest television audience in recent years, according to Awful Announcing.
The sixth game of the final averaged 2.8 million viewers in the U.S. on TNT and truTV, marking a 33% decline from the previous year, when the game on ABC drew 4.2 million viewers.
The average viewership for the entire series in the U.S. was 2.5 million per game, a drop of 40% compared to the 2024 final. The combined audience in the U.S. and Canada averaged 6.44 million viewers per game, down 27% from the last season's 8.8 million.
The publication suggests that the primary reason for the decline in interest was the lack of televised coverage on free-to-air television.
In the final, the Panthers triumphed over the Oilers with a score of 4-2 in the series. A year ago, the Panthers also defeated the Oilers in the final, winning 4-3.
